Introduction
Amidst these pages of Thomas A. Hutchings, novelist and photographer, one can find exotic images of the countries of Southeast Asia; Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Writing and photography are his two passions. Whether in the written imagery of his novels or the photographic images of Southeast Asia, readers and viewers can discover different worlds. Living in Saigon, Hutchings has immediate proximity to all of Southeast Asia..

Hutchings is a columnist for the Saigon Business Weekly --
Doan Nhan Saigon Cuoi Tuan. This allows him the freedom to write about a wide range of topics related to living in Vietnam.

Hutchings enjoys literary fiction. He combines this affinity with events of years past to create biographical and historical fiction. He strives in his novels to engage the reader and stir a reader's imagination with the imagery.

His literary fiction novel,
Mendicus, is a story of a homeless veteran struggling with post traumatic stress disorder -- PTSD. The story chronicles a year in his life on the streets hidden in plain view, and how his life correlates to the seasons of his life. It is a story of forgiveness, acceptance and compassion. It challenges the reader to examine the character's living with PTSD.

Hutchings' other literary fiction novel,
Tears of Tay Ninh, is set during the Vietnam War in 1966 and peacetime Saigon and Tay Ninh of 2005. This historical fiction will take readers through a top secret, clandestine operation in the steamy jungles of Vietnam along the Cambodian border, through a B-52 bombing, an opium house, and the story reaches to the halls of Washington, DC.

Hutchings has begun writing several other novels. They range in divers areas of literary fiction. Two are set in Vietnam and the other in contemporary California.  Regardless of the story being related to post traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, historical fiction, Southeast Asia, or deception during war, Hutchings hopes you will find something of interest in your journey amongst the pages. He also hopes you will come to visit and explore beautiful Southeast Asia.

Enjoy the photography of Southeast Asia in the following pages and take a look at the description of the novels.

Consider purchasing his novels. A portion of the author's proceeds from
Mendicus will be donated to the Disabled American Veterans Homeless Veterans Initiative. Tears of Tay Ninh will be available in October 2009, in print and in a Kindle format, as well.
